Do i qualify for a pell(dont know how to spell it) grant?

I'm 19, married and have a child.

i have heard that i could qualify for a full paid pell grant because im married with a child..

is that true??

im wanting to got a cosmetology school..it cost 4500$.

is it possible to get it all paid for with the grant?

  1. since you are married with a child, you are considered independent. They would judge your income and your spouse's income to determine how much financial aid you get. They would take into consideration that you are both raising a child.


  2. it depends on your family's income. If it's low then yes you qualify for a pell and a map grant if not then no. Everything regarding loans is income based. So for instance just because you have a kid doesn't mean you qualify. I mean if you are a single Mom or a married one and your family makes $500,000 a year then you aren't going to qualify for anything financially but if you make $15,000 a year then you will. Oh and since you are married it will count you and your hubby's income.  

  3. You and your husbands income determine if you qualify for a Pell or not.  Just because you have a kid doesn't make you eligible.  Apply at http://fafsa.ed.gov

    The max Pell for the year is $4,731  Some qualify for the max amount, some qualify for none... some fall somewhere in the middle.
