  1. Have you ever heard of a little thing that can get big rilly quick like FIRE.  A fuse is there to protect not only the item in line with it but the hole car. SO if you don't like your car or anything in it. Then go ahead and don't put a fuse in it. You will want to take and rate the fuse at least 10% over the rated load of the amp.

  2. You've answered your own question. If money is tight, the last thing you want to do is have to repair/replace your amp. A fuse is there to protect your amp, small price to pay for the peace of mind.

  3. You can run it without a fuse, BUT it would be Best to have a fuse. By not having a fuse you run the risk off blowing your amp alot more sooner. Especially if you wire it wrong on the first try or something, there goes your amp. I would recomend having a fuse.

  4. This is the question that makes me think you shouldn't be working on any car electrical whatsoever.  here's a little equation for you.  Car + plus wire with no fuse + accident= Burnt out shell of a car.  If there is nothing to break the connection between the battery and the amp then your wire can melt through the insulation but won't stop there since there's nothing stopping it from continuing to burn so it just keep burning until it car is crispy or the battery is drained. guess which happens first.  if you have money to be putting at in any audio equipment then you have money to do it right.  But i gotta tell you stupid car fires make me giggle so go ahead.

  5. Yes, This protects the wire going to the amp.

You should look for a kit that has a fuse holder included. Most of them do.
