  1. it largely depends on the weather...and the type of boarding you want to do.

I've just come back from a week in Val d'Isere (France) we had wall-to-wall sunshine and warm temps so I only needed to wear my sunglasses.

Had the weather been different, i.e. snowstorms, cold temps etc then I might have opted for the goggles to help keep my face warm.

If you are boarding in a way that you are likely to suffer some big crashes (i.e. half-pipe, kickers etc) then it may be advisable to wear goggles (they'll stick to your head and you won't risk them breaking and potentially harming your eyes). If you are just starting out and taking it easy then you'll probably be fine in sunnies.

  2. if your just started then you prob wont need them. unless you are planning on boarding in bad weather such as snow sleet rain, high winds or any other kinds of percipitation. i have gogs but i only use them when its raining or snowing.

  3. Dude, you will look like a noob if you wear glasses. Get some goggles for $20 or $30 (not at the resort!)

  4. I'd get goggles if you think you're going to continue snowboarding......... cause if you sweat your sunglasses might get fogged up and if it's snowy/icy at all the sunglasses won't work against that.

  5. yeah, i sometimes when i go fast, even with goggles, the wind comes into them and my eyes water and one time i got close to takin out a kid, no worries tho <3

depends on condition, if it's cold and windy- goggles

warm and sunny- sunglasses will be fine

  6. You need goggles, not sunglasses. In addition to being more practical for warmth, goggles offer lenses designed to improve your ability to see contrast amongst fields of bright white. Also, and most importantly, if you face plant with sunglasses, you run the risk of them breaking and stabbing you in the eye (lenses and/or frames).

  7. Goggles are almost always tinted, so they will help protect your eyes from the bright sunlight when it reflects off the snow.  Sunglasses can also do that, but the reason goggles would be better is because they will keep your eyes warm.  With just a pair of sunglasses on, the wind you encounter from going fast downhill will go around the lenses and make your eyes and skin very cold.  Spending a whole day with freezing eyes won't be very much fun.
