  1. Depends on what you're saving them for! It's maybe better now to go and buy a 500GB Hard disk for storage and backup.

CD will hold 700MB, and isn't quite big enough if you save all the original pictures from a 1GB camera card when it is full - but generally it will be enough.

A DVD is good for 4500MB, around 6 CD's would be needed - and where I live, DVD's are the same price as CD's. They are a little slower to write, and if you scratch either a CD or DVD it is scrap - and you lose all the stuff you stored on them.

Just look at the volume of data you want to keep - DVD stores more than CD's.

  2. You can use either...DVD's hold a lot more space though.  And nice pic!...you are a hottie

  3. either one will work.

  4. DVDs have a larger size, and CDs are more widely accepted format wise.  Usually CDs have a capacity of 700MB and DVDs have a capacity of 4.7GB.

  5. u can save on both

  6. Yes external drives really are the best way to go. They are easier to put your photos on and hold much more space.

And yeah, CDs are not "more widely excepted" than DVDs. Any computer bought in the last 5 years can read and write to both.

  7. either works well..

  8. Hi,

As no one really knows the actual lifetime of either DVDs or CDs, storing any valuable data solely on them may prove foolish as time progresses.

And, with prices of hard-drives what they are, and falling all the time, I would suggest buying external (USB connected) hard-drives, and storing the photos there. Then, once every few years, move them to the technology that would be prevalent then (while the old drives are still usable, and their connection (e.g., USB) is still recognised by the computers of that time).

    Bye,

    BR.

  9. I would suggest against CD's and DVDs because they aren't reliable. I would recommend a Hard Drive or a Flash Drive(Wouldn't suggest Flash Drive because it's easy to lose).
