Do iPod Touch Screen Protectors Affect the Brightness and Clarity of the Display?

I just purchased a Crystal Film Set from the company Power Support for my ipod touch and applied it to my ipod right out of the box. After turning it on, however, the display appears slightly darker and the colors are more subdued when comparing it to other displays. Is this normal?

It's normal for it to mute the brightness and color SLIGHTLY. Part of it's refraction from the film layer. The light's going through the film first, instead of directly from the source. Should'nt be that noticeable though. And it's better than the permanent damage scratches, and abrasions you'll get without them.
