Question:

Do iPods charge when you manually manage iTunes?

My computer got a virus, so when it was fixed, my itunes library was wiped out. So when my computer came back, I had to set my video iPod to "Manually Manage", so that all my songs won't erase from ipod. Ever since then, my video iPod won't charge properly. I'll charge it, and it will be fine, but the next day, when I take it off hold, it's dead. And then when I plug it in, it won't do anything, until 30 minutes later. It will charge for 15 and then completely die again.

Please help. I cannot afford another ipod.

  1. Try re-installing iTunes, Restoring the Factory Settings on your iPod, or buying a new cable.

  2. yes it should charge regardless

if you batter is c**p you can buy an new battery and not a hole ipod

  3. Firstly, download SharePod from http://www.getsharepod.com and Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 (the link will be under Help on the SharePod's website.)

Once .Net Framework is installed, connect the iPod to the computer & open iTunes & SharePod. In SharePod, click the Transfer to PC button. SharePod automatically creates a folder for your music (in your documents folder, you can change it so the music goes into your iTunes' music folder.) After the data is transferred go into iTunes and load your music and what not then restore your iPod.

After the iPod restores and updates either sync your music automatically or manually manage your iPod, create your playlists, add your music, voila. Enjoy your tunes once again.

    Hope this helps.

  4. maybe its the cable, it should charge fin when you manually manage music... or your ipod may be messed up

  5. I think that what you should do is to reinstall iTunes again, even if you set it to manual sync it must charge when it's plug to your PC
