My grandfather would be considered an illegal alien today.  He walked across the border without a green card from Chihuahua Mex. in 1905.  He came to California, and all 7 of his children excelled in every way.  I am an attorney, and there are several other professional degrees in my generation, as well as police officers and sheriffs, officers in the Coast Guard and enlisted men and women in active duty in Iraq.  I have one Uncle who has a little league ball field named after him for all the work that he did.  We are very proud of what our family has achieved.

I would like to think that this was his long term goal, establish a family and have them contribute to society.

both, first they want to survive and live comfortably and then they want to better themselves, to give their children a better life then what they had...

They aspire to do your job at a discount. While they get kicked, stumped and cursed at and even more abused.

I will say both. First survival, the need to feed a family if they have one, and any human being will look for survival, regardless the country, that is human nature. Then if they have goals they will try to accomplish them.

Now, we have American citizens that living in a wonderful nation, don't want to accomplish anything even with all the resources that they have to succeed and they prefer to complain about others who want to do it. That is so sad. They know that their lives are ruined so they prefer to spread hate about immigrants.

I think most criminals just act without thinking too far into the future. That would explain the peril and hardship they cause for their children who they bring illegally with them.

I wish I had a nickle for every question on YA from the children who complain they have no future because after 18 years they still don't have proper documents.

i didnt have a choice, my parents got divorce when we got to the states, i stayed over my visa and i have goals and so does my family, i want to go on to law school. some others just work to make money nd send it back to their countries and make a better future.
