Do ingrown hairs eventually go away?

I have an ingrown hair that is under the skin and i havent been able to remove it.. even after setting a hot cloth on it to soften. do ingrown hairs eventually go away on their own? if not how do else can i get rid of it?

Eventually they do.

Keep doing what you are doing (hot cloth - soaking) to try to open up the hair folicle - once the hair emerges - you can pluck it out with a tweezer.
