Question:

Do intense magnetic fields affect humans? (supercollider levels, not quacks with small magnetics)?

I seem to recall hearing from one of the executives associated with the supercollider project that they had to limit the exposure of workers to the magnets due to health issues (noticeable personality changes). However, I can't find any information on the issue as to whether exceptionally high levels of magnatism affect humans. My question arose as an outgrowth of reading about Intel's use of projected magnetic waves to transmit power without wires.

  1. I don't know about large static magnetic fields, but research has been done that indicates that relatively small magnetic fields (2 to 10 Tesla range) that are modulated at specific frequencies and patterns can induce behavioral, and even perceptual, changes.
