Do international rates apply for texting on cruises?

My husband is deaf so we using texting often to communicate if we are apart. We have free texting in the US and will be traveling on Carnival cruiselines. We have Verizon as a provider. My kids will be with us and they also have Verizon. Do they have special plan or rate we can sign up for just for that time?

i have cingular, but i went on a carnival cruise to mexico & key west, and i only used like 20 texts the whole time i was gone and i had like a 150 $ bill, and i had free unlimited texting, so i'd assume it does :/

Yes, and it is alot of money. I suggest you not do it. Also while you are out in the middle of the ocean you won't have a signal to text anyway. Besides, you're on a cruise, I doubt you'll be bored enough to text
