Question:

Do invisalign retainers contain harmful plastics?

I'm getting a clear retainer (not sure whether it's invisalign or not, but it looks like it) and I'm worried the plastic it's made of is a harmful plastic that could leech chemicals into my body. Does anybody know if these retainers leech harmful chemicals? Also do the other type of retainers (the ones with a metal wire) leech chemicals? Thanks

  1. No they don't have harmful chemicals in them. Otherwise dentists wouldn't be still having them now. I know tons of ppl whose gotten them and now have beautiful teeth and healthy bodies.

  2. im wearing one right now. no, there is nothing harmful in it.

  3. I got Invisalign and was a little concerned about it.  When I first started treatment, I was getting these sore throats.  I thought maybe it was from the plastic.  It was more from dryness of the mouth.  I just needed to drink more water.  Eventually, my body got used to the aligners.

  4. I have them for my top and bottom teeth. They're great! I only have to wear them at night, and I can talk and everything, AND I can't even see them!! well, barely :) no chemicals, don't worry.
