Do jobs offer you this???

can you choose what day you will work in your application. like-if i dont wanna work on saturdays, can i choose saturdays as an off day and they will do as i say. do most jobs offer this decision.

especially if its about you religion or church denomintaion and all that

  1. In general, no.

    However, when I was in college, I worked with one girl who was a Seventh-Day Adventist, and she and her parents put up such a fuss (threatening to sue for discrimination, etc) if the store made her work on the sabbath, that she ended up getting it off -- she did get fired though eventually for stealing so then it was a non-issue lol


  2. Usually where they say "shift preference" on the application, you put down you won't work on Saturdays or Sundays (whatever it is) but expect they may not hire you if you do. You have the right to ask for it off but they have the right not to hire you due to your scheduling preference.  

  3. Not a chance in factory work, unless there is a 7 day work week.  In that case they may let you off on Friday night, for example, for religious purposes only.

  4. not where I'm at, we're 24/7 365.

  5. Most bosses have no problem making accommodations for religious reasons, so long as you catch up on missed work during the days you are able to work. This is something best brought up during your job interview, just to be sure.
