I mean do they really?... I've been trying for months to get my first job. I haven't even gotten an interview before. I've done over 60 applications (Online & Real life) and nothing. But my question is sometimes they say "We're not hiring, but we will keep your application on file" Is this true? I don't believe it... I've been lied to so much by these employers it isnt even funny.

  1. Ask them, nicely, how long they typically keep applications on file--if they purge the files after 6 months, you would want to resubmit the application.

That said, I have had contacts call 5 years later to see if I would come in for an interview.

  2. Yes, they do keep applications on file . different amount of time for different companies .... I've been getting letters from a company that wants me ... for years ... I had to tell them to stop calling ... but the letters come about once a month.

  3. yeah they keep it on file for a while

but they have so many on file

they pick a few out of the pile

    and call them up

and they throw the rest out

    my word of advice

wait till you see a now hiring sign

    and then apply

    thats what i did.
