Once a rider is at their necessary weight, do they really not eat at all to maintain it - if an adult needs 2000 calories a day to survive, and these riders are more active than average, can't they eat 2000 cals a day, which is quite a lot of food?

  1. pincay had a 800 calorie intake daily.....

he once on a plane trip..ordered some peanuts, had

the flight attendant split 1 peanut, ate that half, won the

race, and on the way back to California ate the other half

of the peanut......that is why he was such a great rider....

  2. Jockeys do have a lot of work to do when it comes to maintaining their weight. You have to watch what you eat and most of them work out. In the mornings, when the have to exercise the horses, they get a workout too. Its not an easy job, it becomes more of a passion. Most of the time, say if a horse is supposed to carrying 120 in the race and the joc only weighs 118, the will add weight to the sadle to make it 120...But they do eat, they dont "live on nothing." h**l, the joc I knew ate McDonalds everyday because the next morning, you pratically work it off!

  3. Being a jockey is a hard job... and only so many people are capable.. jockies are usually very small light weight people and they have to weigh like 90 pounds or something around that ... so i dont know how they do it i think they have a very very very strick diet but...

i think it is very hard for them

  4. Now lets get this straight,, O,K,

They do not ""flip "" as you say about throwing it up ,,,,Thats what its called ,,

Jockey s Weight about 105 to 112 some more if they ride quarter horses,

A good Jockey that knows strength is the most important part of their Job , Eat the best foods available..

Like fish ..chicken ,,steak  They know more about food then Jenny Craig does,

They do not eat any sugar, white bread unless it is toasted ,

No oil unless it is olive oil ,,not to much salt, Just enough to help when they go into the sweat box,,

They know what foods stay in your system for over a day ,

Like shrimp,, certain lettuce salads ,, e,t,c.

They need protein, and small amounts of carbs,,

Now most people do not know this as they have no clue But anytime your eat a wheat thin or white bread , your amino acids turn it into pure sugar,,

They will eat potatoes, they watch what they put on it

    Tons of veggies

Only Jockeys that are lazy about exercising have to do things to their body's , That a good Jockey does not have to.

Most run, and do other type of certain body (building ) wrong word But close to that

If you have ever seen a jockey with out  clothes on you will see how ripped they are,, ,, Lafitt Pincay was one fit dude,

So was most of the top boys and girls

  5. Well I know for a fact Laffit ate very well ,, But in the right way

We where having break at 8:00 am

and we having breakfast I ask him Why only one piece of toast ,, he said The less you eat at one time your body is able to use it better . It took him a 1/2 hour to eat one 1/2/ of toast NO BUTTER , and he chewed it .. about a hundred times and took Little bites ..

See Thats where I learned ,,,,is from them

Also to the Guy that said they flip those days are basically gone,, Fair Jockeys and bad boys have to do that ,,

    Toro is right also ,,

The girl who said they weight 118 is wrong !!

    thats Quarter horse Jockeys

Remember everyone ,, bug boys have to weight in at less then 105 ,, Gess how many times does one have to say it

Also most T.B. Jockeys weight in at 110  to 115 Most forget they have to count the saddle ,,,,which some only weight 3/4/ s of a pound ,,Now thats a light saddle ,,

If a Jock is having problems he will use his light saddle .

There is soooooo Much  more to it ,,,,,Most people do NOT UNDERSTAND ,,

Unless you have been there and DONE IT ,,,,,,

  6. Alot of fish . Alot of jockeys will chew on a candy bar or oreo cookie, but not swallow it and then spit it out.
