  1. I have a friend whose kid plays in a baseball team.

There is a competition in the Netherlands.

But it really is a minor sport, there are not many teams.

  2. No. Baseball is not a popular sport in Europe at all. The only league that I have ever heard of was a University Softball league, and I have only heard about them because a friend of mine started to date one of the members of the local team. This year, the "championship" was held in the town I live in, and basically only the players and their friends were there. There are no professional teams at all, no sportsclubs offering Baseball, and there are no baseball courts/stadions/whatever you call them.

European kids are far more likely to play soccer.

  3. As a continent, as the answerer said above, baseball is not popular at all, let alone with kids. Soccer is much more popular. I'm in Ireland and we don't play baseball at all per se.

Kids sometimes play a game called "rounders". Its very similar to baseball (maybe it has the same rules as little league?) Anyway one team bats and the other bowls. There are four points to run around and for every member that makes it around all four there is a home run given to the team.

If the bowling team grab the ball with one hand the whole team is out. If they grab it with two the person who batted is out. If they catch the ball after it's bounced on the ground for a while and hit the person running around they are out. While you are running around the four bases you can stop at one and be "safe" and then run when the next person bats. However, if you are between two bases and the ball hits the NEXT one in order, you are out, i.e. if it hits the base you are running to.

Three strikes and the teams swap. The rules vary but they're pretty much the same everywhere (biggest one to vary is the "one catch in the hand") It's played here by younger kids for PE and sometimes in the summer at camps and stuff but there are no formal teams or anything.

:) hope i helped...no baseball here at all anyway!

  4. We had baseball league in high school.

  5. the Romanian national sport is OINA - considered the forefather of baseball :)

today, unfortunately, we are not so much interested in this sport, but you would be amazed to read the rules!
