Question:

Do kittens faces get sharper and thinner as they grow?

4 month old kitten is a thin wee thing anyways but eats well and vet saying he's fine. But I've noticed his face is getting much thinner and maybe adult-like... still kittenish eyes, but is this what happens?

I'm a bit worried as he looks as thin faced now when he's dry haired as he looked when he was once wet as a much smaller kitten - is this what tends to happen as they grow?

  1. It all depends on what his parents were like, just like humans.

I have 2 Short-haired British kittens and their faces get wider as they mature, as the breed have quite large round heads, but as you can see from photos of cats, some cats have long elegant heads (like Siamese) and Persian cats have full fluffy faces. You can only wait and see.

  2. Yup. They loose that roundness in their face. And sometimes their fur changes. All animals change as they grow.

  3. As long as the vet says he's fine and you're deworming him then it should be okay. It depends on the breed of cat but most cats loose that "fluffy" look as they get older than can make them look thinner anyway.

Here are some photos of my cat while I've had him (between 3-4 weeks and 12 months which he is now) so you can see how their faces change if you have a skinny cat like mine. Matty is a pretty big cat, he's just lanky :)

4 months for him was the Christmas tree photo so I'd say if your kitten has a thin face and kitten eyes then that's perfectly normal :)

  4. yes as your kitten becomes a cat.. of course its face will mature and the features change.

if you are concerned that your cat is turning too thin, you can always take it to the vet.

  5. it happen to everything living

  6. Pretty much all animals (including humans!) lose that "baby face" fattish appearance as they age. . .some more than others.

As long as your kitten isn't actually losing weight (i.e. becoming skinny overall), I wouldn't worry about it.

  7. No!!, take him to the Vet!!! He probably has worms. The worms take all the nutrition and leave the kitty thin and sick, they can kill him. Please go to a vet and get him wormed, vaccinated and neutered. You can call the local animal control ceter for info on low cost spay neuter and vaccine clinics. Good luck.
