  1. Yes, yes, yes!!

I kiss and hug my wee kitty all the time - he purrs like a love-muffin and adores it!

Sometimes the cat will touch your face, nuzzle you, touch nose to you, purr, rub you, kneed you - these are all signs of love and affection.

    Enjoy!

  2. i do the same thing to my cat, but they dont understand it. they see you as their master and when you show attention to them, its just like when cats are in a tight group like lions and they show attention to each other and they care for each other.

  3. Technically I don't really know, but I snuggle and nuzzle with my cat and tell her "I love you" all the time. She lets me do it and then bumps my head, so I like to believe she knows and is doing the same thing back.

  4. I have a cat myself... I do talk to it, but I know it cant understand anything even though sometimes it will miaw back at me as if it was trying to engage in a conversation. I guess with cats its all about body language. My cat will show me that it wants a hug or a scratch, or if its hungry... you know stuff like that. So in a way I would say they do understand hugs and kisses, but your words I don't think so.

  5. We'd like to think they understand but to cats, love and affection is cat food (mainly fish!) and a cosy, warm dry house.

What I do with my two is when I hug them, I kiss them on the nose and say "Kiss" (either before or after).

If I'm sitting on the floor, I'll pat the floor, one will trot over and I'll put my head down to her level and say "Kiss" and I get a nose-butt on the mouth and mega purrs. Very cute.

  6. She won't understand what you say, but she'll appreciate some cuddling - usually.  Some cats don't and will let you know quite emphatically!  Don't kiss her, you never know what you might catch.

Cats normally relate being cuddled and stroked with the treatment their mum gave them as kittens and when they bundled up in a heap with their siblings, which is why they like it.

  7. Im not sure how, but I think they know. I mean, you're smiling at them and cradling them in your arms, gently, right? If you were being rough and loud your kitten might get scared, you know? So maybe just a mix of your body warmth, your soothing voice, how gentle you are, and you rubbling their bellies or hugging them makes all the difference! :D
