I caught a bunch of leopard frogs in the ditch today and I was just wondering, how come some are brown while others are green? Is it because the brown ones spend most time in the mud or...

  1. Leopard frogs do not typically change color.  What you're probably seeing are just genetic variations between frogs.  Just like how some people have brown hair and others blond, leopard frogs can range between green and brown.

    Another possibility is that you're seeing different species of leopard frogs in the same ditch, though that is probably less likely.

    I don't think this means that they can go from brown to green, more like dark green to a lighter green...

  2. They usually adapt to the color of their environment - or so I believe. I know they're great for bass fishing!!
