Do licensed bartenders go through bartending school ?

Do licensed bartenders go through bartending school and thus know a standard array of drinks offered, or are they just bum that pays a fee to get a license...

back in college i took a 3 day weekend class provided by one of the bartending school in detroit. So to some degree you do, i know that large states do require it and some of the smaller states do not.

In the few places that issue bartender licences you need to take a course in the liquor laws.

I personally took a 4 day class that went over how to make all the basics and then some. It seems that's what most do, I know there's a required handling class so everyone has to have some knowledge.
