do ligaments fuse together and return to there original state or does scar tissue fill in the gap

  3. yes the fuse and yes they will have scar tissue.

    depending on the type of injury and how it was treated depends on weather the ligaments "join" in the straight formation or join askew. causing problems later on with the joints movement.

    some ligaments if fully torn may need surgery to repair them like the ACL which is the main ligament holding the knee stable
