Question:

Do lighter skinned girls have it easier than darker skinned girls?

I was watching the Tyra show the other day and they touched on a topic that interested me. Im a dark skinned Indian girl, and I have been teased my entire life from my own race and others for being dark. I don't think it's fair that the world see's "bueaty" only in light skin. What do you think? Agree? Disagree?

  1. i greatly disagree.

honestly, the darker skinned girls (all races) used to talk so much c**p to me when i was younger. i HATED IT. and not just make remarks about my skin (they'd ask if i bleached it, scrubbed too hard, or my fav, "when was the last time you saw the sun?") but they would CONSTANTLY accuse me of being racist because i refused to talk like they did... which was basically incorrect grammar, ebonics, talking with a fake mexican accent (i'm canadian, and still have my accent) like all the other white girls did... it was so irritating.

racism is so dead. people need to let it go. the only people carrying it out and dragging it in the dirt are the same people who think people are racist against them.

i think all girls have a hard time. nobody has it easier than anybody. even the super-pretty girls usually hate the way they look, despite how snoody and mean they can get. usually girls who get nasty attitudes have them because of their own insecurity.

but as far as being a white girl goes... it can be hard in situations like my husband not being naturally attracted to me. he wishes i was mexican because he finds having darker skin, brown eyes, and long, thick black hair extremely attractive. so i feel ugly A LOT. it sucks.

  2. i myself am light skinned, and personally i think we should all be treated the same!!!!! i mean tyra is dark and she is the prettiest woman inside and out i have EVER seen!!!!!! i totally agree with u!!!

  3. This is so strange to me.  I've heard of this, but I just don't get why it happens.   I'm a white male...very white.   I've always thought that people with skin pigment were so lucky, and so beautiful.  It's crazy to me that someone would discriminate based on how 'light' or 'dark' the shading was.  I think the world is insane.

  4. I disagree. You should prove people wrong by showing them all the dark-skinned actresses.

  5. Yes. I have a sister who is darker just like the sisters on the show, and although it has not been that bad as they had it, but it was bad because of the way people would not identify us as sisters. I adore my sister and she adores me. We are like two peas in a pod. I had it easier than her though. I am not even gonna sugar coat it. I think this is disgraceful and unfair and hurtful. I hate the disparity.

  6. is that really true? it doesn't matter to me- i've seen loads of gorgeous dark skinned girls, and loads of gorgeous fair skinned girls.
