I was sprinkling some lime juice on some indian lentils and rice and my brother questioned the authenticity of lime juice on lentils and rice. It tasted delicious but I was wondering if Limes grow in india. Specifically southern india which would have a tropical/sub-tropical climate.

  1. Yes

  2. In reality, lemons don't grow in India. Unfortunately, the limes are called lemons in India.

Historically, the limes were brought to India from Persia (Iran) by Babar, the first Mogul emperor of India.

The current variety of limes from Iran is seedless, and grown in United States.

The limes in India are not seedless.

  3. Yes they do, my grandparents have lime trees in their garden.  They grow mainly along the coastal regions.  Lime pickle and lime rice are recipes using lime.

    NOUN:

A spiny evergreen shrub or tree (Citrus aurantifolia), native to Asia and having leathery leaves, fragrant white flowers, and edible fruit.

Again why not  this is the 21st century you could be in India tomorrow ,,,,every is available,,, every where...

  5. It really doesn't matter, haven't you heard, we live in a New Age Global Society! If lime or lemon tastes best for you, stop worrying! "Questioned the authenticity?" what the h**l is this brother of yours, some anal-retentive bozo?

I live in Mexico and the current fad in good steak houses is Mexican Arrachera steak with Argentinian "Chimichuri" sauce! Its heavenly! F*ck the "authenticity!"
