Do lizards eat bird seed?

I saw a lizard in some finch bird seed that the finches had scattered on my pathway from the feeder. Could it be possible the lizard was eating birdseed? It looked like he was. His tongue was flicking and he was "chewing". He stayed there for a while.

  1. Some lizards like fruit and there's sometimes fruit in bird seed like papaya and dried honey powder. These ingredients can be found in lizard food an suppliments, so it was quite possible. Lizards like fruit and honey. The lucky squirt could have caught a bug before you had the chance to see it. Lizards eat crickets and bugs. He could have also been just cleaning his face. Since some lizards can't blink or don't have eyelids. They l**k their eyes to keep them clean.

  2. Meh, most lizards dont chew.I think it was looking for water or cover from the cold.

  3. I don't think so. I would talk to a pet shop owner or a vet to find out what a lizard eats, or you could go to wikipedia as a last resort.

  4. Maybe, but his primary diet is insects. There may have been gnats or weevils in the seed that he was eating.
