Do locomotive companies have any rules against photographing or video taping trains?

I know there are a lot of train fanatics out there (I'm one of them) that like to take photos and videos of trains that are moving or parked, and I'm wondering if any companies have rules against doing that. I don't think there are any, but I don't know for sure.

  1. I too am a railbuff or "foamer" as better known. there are several rules that all railfans need to follow.

    1. STAY ON PUBLIC PROPERTY

    2. DONT p**s THE CREW OF A TRAIN OFF (9-10 times results in them calling you in)

and 3. Dont stand so close to the tracks, the RR's ROW is 15 ft? on either side of the tracks, and it has been mentioned before, that that is the danger zone, if the train is dragging anything, you could be hit, seriously injuring you or killing you.

  2. Locomotive companies can have whatever d**n cockaninny rules they like - but, so long as you are conducting your activities in a civilised country and are in a public place, no action can be taken against you.

  3. You need to stay on public property, and not hidden.

  4. As long as your on public property no.Since 9-11 anyone we see on railroad property that doesn't look like they belong there is supposed to be reported.
