  1. So far it has worked for me.  My girl is cool about me being at sea for months at a time.  Last year I was gone for 9 months.  She is cool with it.  While at sea you don't get to go out and meet new people so the temptation is not there.  It is harder for the land based person.  This is just from this girl.  I have others.  The Alaska fisherman's saying is you find them how you left them, freshly F*@ked.  It could go either way.  Good luck, I know I do.

  2. Interesting question for "Boats and Boating"!  :)

I think it depends on the people.   Some long distance relationships can work very well, if the people are very committed to each other, and know each other well before the relationship becomes a long distance one. A relationship that starts as a long distance relationship has to become face-to-face at some point to see if it can really work. Some people are happy with a long distance relationship because they both also value their private time. Such relationships probably work better for people who are a little older and may be looking for different things in a relationship, and the need to be together physically may not be as significant as the overall relationship itself. I think a long distance relationship has little chance of working over the long term, particularly with younger people. There has to be an end in sight, a plan to be together. It very much depends on the situation and people involved.   Sometimes you don't know until you try.

  3. I have never had good experiences with them but I think if two people really care about eachother and work hard to make a good relationship together you can make it work!
