  1. I'm not really sure what you mean by your bird "beating".  Do you mean beating up her toys?  Chewing on everything?  If so, it's perfectly normal.

Birds in the wild spend most of their days foraging for food.  In captivity they have bowls full of food just sitting around so they have to find something else to do with their time.  Healthy and happy birds spend a lot of time playing with toys - including beating them up and chewing them to shreds.  This not only keeps them psychologically healthy but helps keep their beak in shape and from overgrowing.

Baby birds often go through a beaky stage where they test everything with their beaks.  During this time they don't seem to have a good grasp on how hard is *hard* and may bite you to "test your skin", not really meaning to hurt you.  As they mature, all of this beaking has taught them what is food and what is not, how hard they need to bite to get a reaction, and how much chewing it takes before they've effectively removed a portion of the window casement. :-)

It's all part of being a bird.

    Hope this helps,

    Colette
