I mean, if they're called EDITORS, shouldn't they be EDITING the magazine stories, layouts, pictures, etc., not WRITING them??

& if they DO write stories, who is the person that just looks over the magazine & makes the layout, etc.?

someone please clear this up for me!

  1. Magazine editors are in charge of certain sections of the magazine. For example, the "fashion" editor may be in charge of making sure everything is correct in fashion, and looks okay design-wise. But feature articles may also be taken on by an editor, especially one of importance or of touchy subject matter that requires experience and care.

Design editors are in charge of the design concepts and creating them in a magazine.

The editor in chief makes sure everything runs smoothly over the whole operation.

Whether a staff writer, designer, photographer, or editor, each piece of the magazine goes through many hands. This joint effort helps create the finished produce you see on the newsstands.
