  1. Yes, a male lovebird will enter a nest-box. My male and female both went in there alot. If you want to know gender you have to get them DNA sexed. go to the site i listed below they can help you ALOT. There are hundreds of lovebird owners there.

  2. Yes, he will but not for a long time only to pass the food to the female.

  3. Yes, he will.  But he will not spend near the time in it that the female does.  I have often found both of mine together in the box.  The female is in the box a lot more than the male when they have young, but he does help feed.  He gives food to the female, which she gives to the chicks...

  4. Hi,

    If you want to know what sexes they are then my tip ios to;

    get hold of the bird, tip it on its back and then just above the vent place a finger or a thumb and gently press down until you feel two bones. If the bones are almost touching then its male and if they are far apart its female to let the eggs pass through.

  5. Yes male lovebirds do pop in & out of the nest box, it looks as if he is keeping an eye on things ! nothing to hold is attention for long ,unlike the female who takes hatching & hatchling care very seriously ,during this period she is either there for long periods of time or comes out for a breather or to carry food back to the young .

  6. Im not sure but the guy I bought my budgie off said they are similar to breed. My male budgie very rarely goes in the breeder box, but the female went in all the time
