Question:

Do male platform divers wear "protection" when they compete?

My reason for asking is, hitting the water from 33 feet in the air seems like it would do some damage. They say hitting water from 50 feet is like hitting the concrete so I can just imagine that guys crotches must get slapped pretty hard when they enter the water.

  1. I suppose if they landed right on their crotch it would be an issue, but once they break the water the rest should slip through fine.

  2. After watching the Olympics they explain that the way a diver's hands are positioned is like punching a hole in the water. It would be pretty obvious if a man was wearing protection as all they wear are speedos.

It would only be an issue if they belly-flopped into the water, the likelihood of a professional diver doing this is tiny.

  3. THEY GO ARMS FIRST , SO I THINK IT SHOULD BE JUST FINE . NO NEED FOR ANYTHING EXTRA.

  4. That only happens when you go feet first. Or if you have wood. Our stuff points downward so we're pretty hydrodynamic.
