Do males and females have different definitions of "pretty"?

So I've noticed that what girls consider "pretty" isn't what guys consider "pretty". I could be with a group of girls talking about another girl and they'll all agree she's pretty. But then you go to a group of guys talking about the same girl and they don't find her attractive at all. Is that weird? Does this happen to you alot? Why do you think this happens?

  1. well as hard as it may be to believe, some people don't like reese's cups. We all have different tastes.

  2. every single individual does.

  3. Of course this happens a lot to everyone, people having different views of beauty, we all do. I'll see a friend with some ugly girl and I'll be like,"why you with her, she so ugly" and he'll give a differing opinion on the female. Everyone has a different definition of pretty and s**y.

  4. Yes, males & females have different definitions of pretty. From my experience, guys look at the whole package, whearas girls mainly focus on the face. For example, there is a GORGEOUS Brazilian girl at my school. Beautiful full lips, s**y eyes, long black hair. However, she does not dress trendy or bother with fake nails or tanning salons..Guys don't even look at her twice..Then there's another girl at my school who has an ok face, but she always does herself up so well. She's the one guys are constantly after..Weird eh?

  5. I think of pretty as a notch down from beautiful.

But anyway, you've seen all those airbrushed magazine covers and billboards, models, movie stars etc. who seem like the most beautiful girls in the world. Some guys just have an unrealistic standard for girls' appearance because they see gorgeous women all the time in advertising.

The sad part is that those women don't even look that beautiful! Everything is airbrushed!
