hey just wondering do your schools (aka coaches and dicretors) allow you to do band and cross country even though they are both fall sports and both have practice after school, normally the same times

  1. Our school allows it but I did marching band and Cross country at the same time one year and it was so stressful so I quit marching band...running is more important to me. However if you feel Marching band is what you like most then do that. you can also try doing both but let me warn you, it is very hard!

  2. ...

While in high school a long, long time ago I had the exact same conflict.  The big difference was that our marching band practice was during the day, and not nearly as competitive as marching bands are these days.

The XC coach suggested I drop band.   Of course he would!  I gave the band director no opportunity for input.

It's a tough decision, it really is, if it's a decision you have to make.

If you can do both, do both, I'd say.  Sure, it makes for long afternoons and frequent conflicts.  But this could be a good year for you in XC.  And unless you're a music major in college, marching band in high school could be one of the last opportunities for you to participate in the fun of an organized music group,

  3. Good luck with that!!! Marching band requires a lot of time and dedication. At one of our local schools in the fall I've seen them practicing in the parking lot until after dark.

You won't have time to run cross country. I personally would pick cross country. It's more rewarding in the long run (no pun intended).

  4. ditch marching band, do cross country.  and how can u say they are both fall 'SPORTS'? band is not a sport
