  1. If kids do too much of anything it can affect their development.

However a reasonable amount of sport and exertion is very good for them.  Join a club which has a good reputation.  Any sport should be fun NOT punishment.  A good Sensi will get the balance right between fun and effort.

There is a lot to be gained from martial arts beside fitness, good balance, strength, concentration and self esteem to name but a few. Why don't you join at the same time and you can learn together?

  2. No, it doesn't.

  3. yes it does..

  4. No it does the opposite, helps them to grow into strong confident Adults.

  5. NO!

  6. Martial arts will not stunt their growth, and anybody that tells you yes is a pompus windbag.

Martial arts emphasizes flexability, not heavy weight lifting. Weight lifting stunts growth under the average age of fifteen due to the excess tension in the muscles and tendons restricting the bones ability to elongate. This is also something that can be debated. Your kids would be better off taking a martial art as they should learn respect for themselves and others, not to mention the fact that they can protect as well.
