  1. It depends on the owner.  Some places prefer to pay their therapists hourly, some get commisison, and some are salary.  It usually has to do with whether or not they rent a room.  A place with one or two therapists might pay commission, while a place with many will probably pay hourly, as it would cost the owner too much to pay them all a large commission.

  2. Basically since the idea of jobs in massage is fairly new, you can negotiate what you want or keep trying until you find what you want or create what you want as far as pay etc.

Just like any other career, you need to negotiate what you want and what you will do.

I wouldn't work on salary as a massage therapist as I would guess that you would really be taken advantage of.  There are only so many massages that you can do in one day both physically and mentally.  You should be paid for your work.

Entry level salaries are usually very low like maybe $20 an hour if you are lucky.  You also may get paid less if you don't have a client.

Most massage therapists start their own business and can make more that way.

  3. my friend is a massage therapist and she charges by the 1/2 hour and hour. Say she charges 30 fro a half hour , If you wanted and hour and a half she would charge you 90.00. I guess it all depends on the person running the business.
