  1. Yes many countries pay their athletes for winning medals, including the U.S. I heard them talking about it during the opening ceremony, but have not been able to find an amount.


  2. No, it's done for the honor. They may later get some kind of benefit from their home country (expect to see a lot of Michael Phelps and his endorsements), but that's it

  3. Nope no money except if they get used in advertisement.
