  1. Yes, they do.  

    Back in the early 90's it was something like $100 per PGA tournament.  And each player had to pony up the dough himself, no exceptions.  A hundred bucks is nothing to these guys, even back then.  I'm sure it has increased somewhat since then, but it's mostly the principal of the entry fee that makes it a professional tournament.

    An invitational, like the Masters or Bay Hill might be a little different, however.
