Question:

Do men's pupils dilate when they like you?

I like this guy and hadn't seen him in a while, but today I got to talk to him and stared him directly in the eyes. We kept eye contact for about 2-3 seconds. His pupils were not dilated. Also, we were in a sunlit-type room (not too bright, just normal).

Does this mean he is not interested? He did like me in the past, but we just don't get to see each other often, so it was never confirmed if we still are interested in one another. Don't people's pupils dilate when they stare at something too long? Isn't this statement of "love" kind of inaccurate?

  1. People's eyes dialate when they first SEE you if they're interested, but they go back to regular size very quickly.

Works for men and women equally - it's a predator response.

Unfortunately, this doesn't help you resolve the interest issue.

Ask him out.  He says yes, he says no.  Then you know.

  2. I wish i could help, but I have never heard of this...

  3. They dilate when they're aroused

  4. I couldn't find anything on the internet about it. I think it might be that there was a lot of light in the room he was in before and less light in the room you are talking about.

  5. it could be or it can mean they are lying to you.

additional: if he is looking into the sun and his eyes are dialated...he's stoned.

  6. Pupils dilate due to light and drugs, not people.

Even if they did, how do you know they weren't less dilated before he started talking to you?

It would be a pretty weak basis to start "liking" someone in return. A guy would rather be asked directly, "Say, do you like me enough to go out on a date? then why don't you ask me sometime?"

  7. if he smiles while just talking to you and has a twinkle in his eye when he looks at you thts how u no he really likes u. at least thts how my love knows

  8. I don't think anyone should judge feelings based on pupil dilation.  There's some scientific literature that supports the claim that eyes will widen when they look at something visually pleasing.  However, I'm sure that most of his pupil action would be based on light intensity, now you.  If I were you, I would try to find some more accurate way of determining if he likes you or not.
