At the same height, is there a clear difference between the genders as to the length of their legs compared to their torso?

I thought from personal observation that a woman has longer legs but shorter rest of her body compared to a man of equal height.

But I've heard this is a myth. Can someone enlighten me?

  1. This is a myth. Think in terms of weight loss for example. There are apple shaped bodies, and pear shaped. Then look at a basketball player compared to a weight lifter. The weight lifter has shorter limbs which makes it easier to do pushups, while the long limbs of the basket ball player make it more difficult to do a pushup. These body types are not gender-specific. What is true however is called "Sexual Dimorphism". This is when one gender of a species tends to be larger than another. Although a woman may be taller than her male classmate, his muscles are more bulky and his fingers thicker. So Human males are larger than females, despite height variations. With spiders, the females are larger than the males if you remeber the Black Widow. On earth, a species whose genders show no sighns of sexual dimorphism is very rare, and I can't think of an example where this is so. Also, just because a male does have more muscle bulk than a female, the male may appear to have shorter legs than the female.

  2. women were made by god with longer legs.
