  1. Yes, and so does women...

  2. They think they do...  ;)

  3. Sure. It's been happening since we were cavemen. Physical demonstrations too. Some do it more than others.

  4. Yes. Women do the same. It's not gender based, it's a human action. Simply raising your voice at someone out of anger or fustration is the action of attempting to control the conversation.

  5. YES

Er, I mean, yes.  But so do women.  Tone of voice, pace of speech, volume level, along with a bajillion other nonverbal cues like maintaining eye contact, stepping into the other person's "personal space", adopting a threatening posture, gesturing, wardrobe choices, etc. all come into play.

Since most men have lower, louder voices than most women, that tends to be one of our more obvious tactics.

I've also seen people assert control by deliberately speaking in a very low, quiet voice, forcing their audience to shut the heck up and pay attention in order to hear them.

  6. obviously, yes; but i guess women do too; it can become quite a power struggle

  7. Of course! They make their voice sound "bigger" and "tougher". You know how there's that certain tone of voice when you can just tell they want to pick up a fight? lol
