  2. I've been to four different psychiatric wards in three different psychiatric hospitals. I think there will always be such hospitals as they are required for the very mentally ill.

  3. Yes, but in a different form to the old big old open ward places. Most hospital are working toward separate bedrooms. It is very hard to be admitted to hospital and they will try to get people out as soon as possible.

    In a lot of area's in the UK, there are respite houses (I'm off to one for a week, in about a hour). This is to help people to manage their own mental health and to keep them out of hospital. The place I am going to is run by service users and ex service users. There is a lot of empathy and a bit of alternative therapy. This is financed by the NHS and was setup via the Service User Representative Group.
