  1. Yes, they have an odor.

  2. Mice do have a characteristic mousy odor; males are worse than females.  Scented shavings are not healthy for them.  Thorough cleanliness will help some, but not all.  They are nice pets otherwise, though I don't think quite as friendly as larger rodents.  Your names are cute.

  3. YES THEY SMELL BAD!!!!! rats accualy are better than mice, they are sweeter, smarter, they dont stink, and they can learn their names, and they love to be with you!! YOU HAVE TO GET TWO though. they will become depressed and sometimes even aggressive if there is only one! here is a site to show you the great games they play and the cuteness they have! :http://www.dapper.com.au/toys.htm

males are much quieter and relaxed than females...males will hang out on your shoulder and love you, while females will crawl on your body, explore and play games! females are more likely to get tumors than males!

if you have any more questions im here!

    good luck!...hope this helped! ♥♥

  4. We had mice and rats...and they both stink. There is something really strong in their urine that smells.

To deter from the smell you have clean their cage often (weekly) - which can get costly and time consuming. You also have to be careful that the area they pee in is protected so that the over-spray cannot get out and onto carpet and/or any other fabric.

Ultimatly, I would suggest keeping them outside, in a garage, as I think you will find that the pet is not worth all the work.

A mouse and/or rat is not a loving, reciprocating pet and does not give much satisfaction/happiness back to its owner. We ended up feeding our mice to our snake (which is much easier to care for and does not smell) and traded our rat at a Pet Store.

You really got to love mice to care for them......

  5. crawl under yer bed an find out

  6. I think that they do smell cuz i had this one neighbor and he had two of them and his room smell bad. And i'm pretty sure that there are ways of keep the smell away, you would have to go to a pet store and asked the...

  7. I never want to find out. ;)

    Although i had a hamster..and that smelt.

  8. Yeah they do stink a bit.  I was in a pet shop with my friend who had had mice as a child and when we went near their tank he commented "ah I remember that smell"

  9. Bi-weekly changings will keep the smell at bay. Also, do not feed alfalfa or any kind of hay, or the pellets thereof. I use America's Choice Breeder's Select kiln-dried pine bedding for all of my rodents. Its safe, but not all pine is. Avoid carefresh though, far too dusty for mice or rats. I suggest aspen bedding.

  10. Well, I had two gerbils until recently and they certainly didn't smell.  Maybe you should get a couple of them instead, they're really sweet.  Mine were called Lily, Molly and Judy

  11. Male mice smell really strongly so dont get two males. Two females will be better. You will need to clean them out probably twice a week/

  12. Mice poo everywhere, and do smell. I had some and within a week of cleaning them out every day (and they still smelt) i do rid of them.

Hamsters are loads better... there are a breed called russian/dwarf hamsters, they are really cute and small and can be trained for (mini) litter trays unlike mice.

  13. (a) YES they do smell

(b)just change their bedding weekly and wash with mild soap and water all of their cage parts and food dish and water bottle (outside only) and anything that they climb on or into.  they sell special deodorant rags for the cages also.

    (c) all those names are cute for females.  mine were beauty and precious
