Do military vehicles run on diesel fuel?

  2. Simply put, yes.

    Humvees use the good old Detroit Diesels.

    Diesels are power kings, so they are used in all of the government's big toys.

  3. Starting with the 2 1/2 ton trucks a few years ago, a lot of newer vehicles are multi-fuel capable. Diesel, Gasoline, Kerosene, paint thinner or corn liquor, whatever is available, if it is liquid and can burn it can run the engine. I do not believe this technology has come to all military vehicles yet, and the nature of the turbine driven M1 tank may not allow it, but it is available so no matter where the military finds itself it can find fuel.
