I hear the judges say "Are you happy with this dress?"

So I'm just wondering...

  1. No, they don't keep them. I believe they are auctioned off at the end of the show's season. Unless it's for a specific thing, like say the recent Brooke Shields design (for Lipstick Jungle, a tv show) where she will wear the winning design on the show. But the actual "supermodel" girls don't keep the dresses.

The judges ask that question because often the garment is to be made to the specifications or input of the client - which in this case would be the model - so they want to know if the "client" is happy with the end result and evaluate how the designer took their input into the creations. Kind of simulating what would happen in the real world if you were designing for a real client, i guess.

  2. No the dresses can be shown on the mannequins while they are working on other projects.  They ask if they are happy because they want the models to feel good in the clothing and not like they look like idiots.
