Do morals help us communicate, do they create channels of communication?

  1. In a sense, because it is only through being moral that we can be in harmony with each other, and only by being in harmony can we communicate with each other.


  2. Wow!  Great question. What makes you ask?  (And what's wrong with your English? I think I understand you perfectly....)  

    Anyway, I think that Yet_K has a solid answer.  My grandfather was a secular humanist, and the whole core of his system of ethics was all about what kinds of values support communities in working together effectively.  So his definition of right and wrong was all bound up in what would make it easier for him to work with other people.

    I wouldn't say that morals create channels of communication, but I would say that they prevent them from getting clogged up by resentments and distrust.
