Do mosquitos bother you if you are in a boat in the middle of the lake?

Question

I am getting a 19' ski boat and I'd like to be able to camp overnight on the water. can you get far enough from shore so mosquitos don't bother you?

I've heard that Mosquitos can fly about 6 miles but I don't remember where and i'd like o hear from someone who has real life experience.

for what it's worth I live in Southeast Texas where the mosquitos are either super tiny (no-see-ums) or the size of a small attack helicopter. You can actually feel the big ones landing like a tiny little punch and you can hear them coming in, a buzz like the sound of distant blimps. If they were bigger they would end up carrying off the pets and children

Yeah I would bring some bug repellent with you, I swear mosquito's find you no matter where you go. I have had them come out in full sun to feast on my arm.

While you are moving , no mosquitoes. If you anchor overnight, yes, they will find you in the middle of the lake. Take some mosquito netting and bug spray. Be sure to put an anchor light on over night.

Yo Texas!  Greeting from the other part of the world...Northern Minnesota.  Our skeeters are about the size of robbins and will get you in the middle of the woods, the middle of the yard, and, yes, the middle of the lake.

Usually, in the heat of the day, especially on a windy day, you're safe.  Then it's those big dang black flies that take chunks outta your ankles.  OUCH!

I have spent many a night on lake Waco and have never been skeeter bit. I don't know if that mean,s any thing or not but that is my experience.
