  1. You will find VERY few people that speak english. Probably the most you will find are at your hotel, and possibly other tourists.

Don't worry at ALL about your figure. Just go to the beach and have fun. The acceptance of all body shapes is much, much greater in rio than here in the states.

Have fun! Rio is great. :)

  2. uhhhh wtf is with you telling us your body type like do we need to know this ? do you think brasil is what you see in the media/tv ? you need a reality check cuz brasil, like the rest of south america is a 3rd world country with lots of culture and friendly people. but watch where you are going and "show off" your jewelry/wallet/camera expensive stuff or whatever cuz they WILL rob/kidnap you. this is reality.

  3. No, the majority do not speak English.  There are, however, many who speak some words and they are usually pretty good at trying to help you communicate.

As far as physical appearance - not a big issue - at least that has been my experience while I was there.  The beaches had all shapes and sizes.

  4. most brazilians have to study english when they are young but many don't stick with it and therefore don't speak it well

  5. No they don't, but you will get by just fine, they are very warm and will try their best to help.

Tip: try to learn few  basics Portuguese words,  eg. (where do i  find this...., How much...., can you take me to.....

Don't stress  to much about your appearance.

    good luck

  6. Hi, i'm brazilian and i should say brazilian are not very interested on learning another languages, but the number of brazilian who speaks english or some another not local language is growthing

as soon it is becoming a requeriment for get a good job here. In Rio there are a lot of people that can speak english, or at least know some words they learned by experience, but you dont need to worry about that brazilian are a very warm people and mostly of we love "gringos" so they will help you even if they need to mime or gesticulate with their arms. About your body kind you don't need to worry, u must have heard about our mixeganation... there are people of every kinds here. Here are no black, white, mulato, fat, or thin, just brazilians and those who care about that sure doesn't deserve your atenttion.

But if you're thinking on have a boyfriend or something like that better u go to gym, cuz the concorrence is hard. ^^

Sry for bad english, hope to help you =)
