  1. Depends where abouts in oz you are. As with most things its more popular in some areas than others. In Melbourne its been experiencing a steady rise in popularity and is readily available in the supermarket. I do eat it occassionally and find it to be pretty yummy.

  2. no not at all

but i have tried it its nice just like beef except leaner

    crocodile is disgusting and weird

    emu is nice

  3. no way im australian born here 30 years ago and would never eat an animal on our coat of arms. its wrong.

  4. Perhaps surprisingly, no!

I only tried it for the first time recently, but it wasn't to my taste.  I didn't hate it, but I wouldn't purchase it myself.  It's alot like beef but with a stronger flavour.  I had it barbequed.

I believe it is the leanest meat in the world with less than 0.01% fat.

  5. More and more people are eating kangaroo these days. It is on the menu at a lot of top restaurants and can also be purchased at the supermarket. As others have said already, it's cheap, better for you than other types of meat and tastes great.

  6. not really, as im from the country of WA, i found growing up, the only thing that would get kangaroo are the dogs, cheap food, plus when i eat kangaroo, is when i go out, medium rare

  7. I hope not, one of my guy friends is from Melbourne, and last I checked he hasn't eaten a 'roo' yet :)

  8. Us Aussies'll eat pretty much anything that moves!!

Most people I know do/have eaten kangaroo.  I prob would eat it once or twice a fortnight.  It is very good for you, hardly any fat, high in iron, low in cholestorel etc  Oh, and cheap!!

On all counts it is better for you then beef.

The trick to cooking it is DO NOT overcook!! it can get tough, I recommend chucking it on the BBQ and take it off while still pink (not bleeding though!).  I prefer to buy it marinated but anyway is good.

  9. The answer is no. I have tried Kangaroo meat once, its quite different from other red meats and is extremly low in fat.

Its best eaten rare to medium rare as to much cooking makes it tough.

  10. I couldn't see anyone eating those cute creatures..

  11. Most don't eat it but I've eaten it and it's beautiful. Very healthy, tender, low cholesterol! Most of the culled 'roo ends up as dog food.

  12. im a melbourne guy and occasionally i'll have roo if its on the menu when we eat out,its full of protein, low in cholesterol and the leanest meat you can get-plus it tastes pretty good.

  13. No I dont think so, Ive been living in Australia for 16 yrs and I have not tasted Kangaroo meat.

  14. I don't know about most but I do. It's cheaper than beef with less fat and contains more protein.

  15. i doubt it!!!

  16. yes its true im australian (from down under)!!! and i eat kangaroo 3 times a day!! i luv it its goood!!! but thats bad!!!! shh dont tell....

    ps luv ya s**y boy

  17. I'd be too disgusted by the idea of eating it to actually put any in my mouth :/

  18. We sure do

We ride them to school/work then when we get home each night we cut em up and eat em!

  19. Its available at many supermarkets but there is still a bit of a stigma attached to actually eating it for many people due to the Kangaroo being one of two animals on our Australian Coat of Arms (among other things) . As many posters have already said its a good, lean red meat and personally I found it quite yummy if prepared correctly. Its not something you'd find on dinner menus of the majority of Australian households.

  20. tut tut tut tut what Sonny. They're going to eat you? Not me, no way. I grew up watching Skippy save the world. Couldn't sit down and tuck into a meal with her on my plate!
