  1. good question but i think its just passion that makes a personn a good writer you have to be passionate about writiing

  2. creating a story is based on your creativity, doesn't really need a high iq...

  3. Not really. Let's not forget that both Dan Quayle and Stephanie Meyer have written books.

  4. Not entirely sure what you mean, but on the whole I'd say the writers probably have average to slightly above average intelligence.  A lot of people seem to believe that you can sit down and write a story and it's completely brilliant and ready for publication.  The truth is that every writer I've met (and I've met more than a few) has told me that the first draft is always complete and total c**p.  But you've got to start somewhere.  It actually takes a lot longer to edit a story, clean it up and polish that it does to write the original draft.

I don't know if authors have a higher IQ but I do know they're cut from a different cloth.  I mean think about when you're working on a novel you spend hours at a time in solitude and you have to really think about the words your using to create the image you want the readers to have.  Most people don't think much about words, their meanings or how they fit together.  But when you're writing a story you have to pay close attention to that because different words may have the same definition but a completely different meaning.  And the way you use certain words can change depending on how you use them.

  5. Good writers are good because they can see all possible outcomes and know what outcome is the only truly possible one. They are masters of critical thinking and have trained their minds to find connections everywhere. Above all, they practice practice practice! They realize that writing is very hard work, not just talent. They live in an environment of words; Worshipping the RIGHT WORD at all times.
