  1. No they don't.

  2. No most fighters don't, but the those who need that extra edge are those who are advanced in age. Most fighters do not do it especially in California were they are very strict.

Steroids add water weight which isn't good, most fighters try to maintain this. If you look at these fighters accused of this, they were all older and at the end of there careers.

  3. no and if they do they get in trouble with the boxing commission. steroids isn't tolerated in boxing as it is in baseball and other sports

  4. I don't think so. They normally do physical and mental testings before matches etc to make sure boxers don't have unfair advantages over others. I think they'd detect the use of steroids or any other types of drugs.

But then again who knows about the dodgy world of boxing and stuff

  5. yep .

  6. no not really

  7. I'm pretty sure that many of them do, but I wouldn't say MOST of them.

Boxers like Roy Jones jr. and Shane Mosley have been accused of using steroids.

  8. No they actully work hard, unlike baseball players

  9. I don't think that most of them do, but I think that quite a few have in the past.  It is easier for them to get away with it in boxing, but if they DO get caught, the consequences are much worse than in other sports such as baseball.  Here is a list of recent fighters that have been accused of using steroids that I know of:

Evander Holyfield- was linked to the BALCO investigation, but I don't think there is any concrete evidence because of something with a mixup of identities and adresses.

    Mike Tyson- has been accused.

Tommy Morrison- admitted to taking steroids.

Roy Jones, Jr.- has been accused and I think even paid a fine for it.

James Toney- has twice tested positive and the first time he got his title stripped, had to pay a fine and was suspended.  The second time he was suspended and had to pay a fine again.

Fernando Vargas- tested positive for the Oscar De La Hoya fight and had to pay a fine, and was suspended.

Shane Mosley- linked to BALCO investigation; he admitted to taking them, but stated that he did it unknowingly because he was told by a nutritionist that it was only vitamins.  He faced no disciplinary action.

Joey Gilbert- has repeatedly tested postive for numerous types of steroids.

Orlando Salido- after he beat Robert Guerrero he was stripped of his title because he tested positive.

There are many others as well, but I think that with many of the cases, the fighters do it unknowingly because they have been subscribed certain pills to take by a docter after recovering from injury and what they don't realize is that the drugs that they are taking are technically steroids.
