After watching Superman and the Dark Knight, I begin to wonder if this is how they were portrayed originally. Is this the case, or are the producers and directors adding a spin to these characters?

  1. lol that's probably not the original thought of the authors but super heroes tend to like some woman but can't tell them their secret identity so it turns out a bit like the way u described it

  2. It depends on the Superhero really.

Marvel heroes tend to have relationships (Scott and Jean, Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman.

Superman had a relationship with Lois for a while in the comics.

Batman had a thing for Selina but couldn't get over the fact that she was a thief.

I think the pressures of having such a big secret gets to most of the heroes. Even if their significant other knows, it's hard because they are burdened with having such a huge secret about the person they love.

Plus they would always be worried about the welfare of that person.

    It seems very tiring.
