at every prenatal appointment? I've been feeling crampy lately but not burning (which i get really bad when I have a uti). I have an appointment Wednesday so I was wondering if they automatically check or if i should bring it up. I think it's probably just normal pains but I want to be sure.

  1. NO YOU HAVE TO ASK FOR IT BEEN THERE DONE THAT.

  2. You will have to bring it up. They do check for blood and protein in the urine at every check up, but they do not conclude it as a UTI. Another sample has to be sent to the lab first. Sometimes, if your symptoms are severe enough or the lytmus paper shows alot of protein and/or blood they will just give you the medicine. But you have to let them know of your symptoms.

  3. My doctor tests every appointment when they test for protein in the urine. Most doctors do because UTIs can put women at risk for pre-term labor and not all UTIs have symptoms.

I unfortunately had a UTI that their dip tests were not picking up. After having small contractions were finally got a urinalysis and voila! I have one! Contractions are gone now with macrobid! yay!
